New LDV MIFA people-mover here next month
No diesel option from launch for LDV’s new-generation Kia Carnival rivalThree weeks after its Australian homologation data was published online, the all-new LDV G90 people-mover has been formally confirmed for our market, where it will actually carry the LDV MIFA nameplate, better aligning it with the battery-electric MIFA 9.
LDV Australia has confirmed the new-generation MPV will arrive Down Under next month in both seven- and eight-seat forms, with the local line-up set to comprise of three trim levels – Mode, Executive and Luxe – and a single petrol powertrain.
Said petrol engine is the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit as seen the LDV D90 large SUV, albeit with a bespoke mapping that drops peak power to 160kW (-5kW) but increases maximum torque to 360Nm (+10Nm).
Transmission duties will be handled exclusively by an Aisin eight-speed automatic.
There’s no sign yet of the diesel version included in the local homologation data, but odds are the oil-burner will materialise further down the track as an alternative to the Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria CRDi people-movers.
LDV Australia general manager Dinesh Chinnappa said the MIFA was a glimpse into the future and that every variant is set to “come with a significant level of standard safety equipment, convenient features, fuel-efficient powertrain and more for hard-working Australian families”.
“While it might not share the heart of its electric sibling, the MIFA 9, it does share the fundamentals of evolutionary design, passenger comfort, safety and more,” he said.
“It has advanced the people mover game significantly and we’re looking forward to redefining the segment that has, until now, been dominated by two brands.”
Seven-seat versions will sport a 2:2:3 seating arrangement and certain variants are set to feature six-way power adjustment for the front seats and second-row captain’s chairs.
Other range highlights include footrests, fold-out trays, LED headlights, LED tail-lights and alloy wheels, while headline safety gear comprises front and rear autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear collision warning, lane departure warning and a speed assist system.
Full pricing and specification details of the new LDV MIFA will be revealed in mid-November, ahead of first customer deliveries by the end of this year.
