New Lexus GS breaks cover 48hrs early

Spy photos of the next generation Lexus GS sedan have begun appearing online, after a Chinese website snapped photos of the car.

The photo shows a white sedan while in transit, possibly on the way to its official debut at the Pebble Beach concourse on the California coast later this week.

One of the photos shows the badge, which reads GS 350 and an 'AWD' tag can also be seen, so we can expect the next evolution of Toyota's trusty 3.5-litre V6 engine driving all four wheels.

Enthusiast websites have already commented that the production car doesn’t look as dramatic as the concept car, which was one of the stars of the recent Melbourne Motor Show, and took out the best concept car award.

This is the second new model in a row that Lexus has received feedback saying that the production car is much more conservative than the styling cues that the show car hints at.

When the production version of the CT200h hybrid hatch was unveiled it shared little in common with the dramatic concept car that presaged the all-new model.

Lexus will not confirm if this spy photo is of a new GS sedan, but the badging all but confirms it. And we need only wait another 48 hours to find out.
