New Lexus LX pricing revealed

Next-generation Lexus flagship SUV comes with all the bells and whistles anyone could ever want

Lexus Australia has released pricing details for the 2022 Lexus LX range ahead of its arrival in local showrooms next month, when the opulent new full-size luxury off-road SUV will be priced from $148,800 plus on-road costs.

That starting figure is for the diesel-powered Lexus LX 500d seven-seater, which is also available in petrol-powered LX 600 form for another $3500 ($152,300 plus ORCs).

For the unfamiliar, the new LX is powered by either a 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel V6 (500d) pinched from the new 300 Series Toyota LandCruiser on which the model is based, or a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 (600) not previously seen here.

In terms of outputs, Toyota’s first diesel V6 churns out 227kW/700Nm, as per the LandCruiser, while the turbo-petrol six develops a more athletic 305kW/650Nm. Both powerplants are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive.

Standard equipment highlights on the ‘base’ models include 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail-lights, active height control suspension, a 12.3-inch and 7.0-inch dual-screen infotainment set-up, an 8.0-inch multi-information driver’s display, a colour head-up display, heated and powered front seats, Shimamoku Black ornamentation, wireless smartphone charging and a 25-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.

Spending another $5500 on the optional ‘Enhancement Pack’ adds bigger 22-inch alloys wheels to the mix along with a moonroof and a hands-free tailgate.

Above the enhanced base models, the Sports Luxury twins (LX 500d priced from $165,800, LX 600 from $169,300, plus ORCs) ditch the third row of seating in favour of heated and cooled premium leather-accented seats, a heated steering wheel, cool box, dual rear-seat entertainment system, new ‘Takanoha’ wood veneer ornamentation and a fingerprint recognition-based starter button.

Injecting the range with booster shot of athleticism will be the new F Sport duo, priced at $171,800 and $175,300 for the LX 500d and LX 600 respectively.

Based on the Sports Luxury grade, F Sport variants score performance dampers at all four corners, a Torsen limited-slip rear differential and a sportier look courtesy of a black grille, satin chrome exterior trim and darkened 22-inch alloys.

The sportier theme is continued within the cabin by more aggressively bolstered F Sport seats, an F Sport steering wheel and aluminium trim.

Sitting some $35,500 further upstream of the F Sport models is the LX 600 Ultra Luxury four-seater; an SUV designed to be the absolute pinnacle of high-riding Lexus motoring.

Powered exclusively by the force-fed petrol V6, the flagship LX carries a starting price of $210,800 before on-road costs and axes yet another seat in its strive for absolute opulence.

The now individual rear seats feature a reclining function (up to 48 degrees), massage function, deluxe headrests, passenger-side ottoman and exclusive quilted upholstery.

An independent rear centre console incorporates a touch-screen display for seat and air-conditioning controls as well as a wireless smartphone charger, two USB-C ports and additional storage space.

Lexus chief executive John Pappas said the new LX range will appeal to a broad set of customers and aims to give them “the luxury of choice”.

“With two powertrains, four model grades and three seating layouts to choose from, exacting LX customers can choose the perfect variant to suit their lifestyle,” he said.

There are six exterior colour choices comprising Sonic Quartz, Titanium, Liquid Metal, Onyx, Graphite Black and Khaki Metal, with the F Sports swapping out the former in favour of White Nova.

All variants come with Lexus’ latest suite of active safety systems and acronyms as well as some of the off-roading goodies the debuted on the 300 Series, including Multi-Terrain Select, Multi-Terrain Monitor and crawl control.
