Czech car-maker Skoda has confirmed that the updated 2024 Skoda Octavia will be revealed in February.
Official details on the facelifted 2024 Skoda Octavia are thin on the ground, but the brief teaser video shows a bold new headlight signature boasting an angular design with fang-like LED daytime running light flourishes.
Other visual updates are likely to include a new-look grille and front bumper design, along with tail-light tweaks to both the sedan and wagon body styles.
Skoda’s preview video blurb reads: “Welcome 2024 with the first glimpse of the facelift of our all-time bestseller, the Skoda Octavia, set to be officially unveiled in February.”
Its first public outing is likely to be at the Geneva motor show, which opens on February 26, ahead of its European launch in the second half of the year and an expected late-2024 Australian arrival.
The Czech brand’s mid-size passenger car will be offered exclusively with turbo-petrol engines in Australia given the brand has previously stated it would not sell diesels here anymore.
Plug-in hybrid versions have also been scrubbed from the local menu.
As such, expect to see the current engine range continue when the upgraded Octavia arrives Down Under, comprising 1.4-litre (110kW/250Nm) and 2.0-litre (180kW/370Nm) four-cylinder turbo-petrol engines.
The two combustion engines drive the front wheels through conventional eight-speed and dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmissions respectively.
Based on the MQB Evo platform, the new 2024 Skoda Octavia is set to bring a number of interior changes to bear, including larger touch-screen options and a number of new technologies expected to evolve its safety systems and autonomous driving functionality.
The Skoda Octavia sedan is currently priced from $42,490 drive-away for the entry-level Style and $56,990 drive-away for the RS hero model. Wagon versions add $1500.
In 2023, the Skoda Octavia found 1395 customers, up 45 per cent on the previous year but well behind the likes of the Tesla Model 3 (17,347) and Toyota Camry (10,581).
The 2016 Skoda Octavia RS wagon was voted carsales’ Best Used Medium Car for 2023.
