Skoda has dropped three sketches of its facelifted 2021 Skoda Kodiaq, bringing the upgraded seven-seat SUV to life ahead of its global unveiling on April 13.
Some of the key takeaways from the Czech brand’s sketches include a redesigned front-end that brings slimmer LED headlights, a fresh bonnet, new grille and a lower and wider front bumper.
At the rear, the LED tail-lights have been given a similar remodel, and are now also slimmer than before.
It remains to be seen whether much has changed inside the cabin, but there’s a good chance the brand’s largest SUV will follow in the tyre tracks of its smaller Kamiq sibling by offering a more advanced central touch-screen along with a more compact climate control system.
Currently offered Down Under with two powertrains – the 132TSI petrol priced from $46,390 plus ORCs and the flagship RS (from $68,890) that uses a 176TDI turbo-diesel – the Kodiaq is unlikely to bring powertrain upgrades.
However, if the latest rumours are to be believed, top-shelf RS variants could swap out the current 176kW/500Nm turbo-diesel in favour of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit from the upcoming Volkswagen Golf GTI, which would up power to 180kW (+4kW) but reduce torque by 130Nm (to 370Nm).
Stay tuned for the official reveal of the updated Skoda Kodiaq next month, along with local pricing and specifications, which are set to be revealed in the coming months.
