The all-new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 four-door coupe has been teased on the car-maker's social media ahead of its anticipated launch at next week's New York motor show.
Set to be the most powerful model in the all-new CLA range, at least until the flagship AMG CLA 45 rocks up, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 will come equipped with the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder as the recent launched A 35 hot hatch.
Positioned above both the A 35 hatch and recently revealed A 35 sedan, under the bonnet of the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 lives the same punchy turbo that powers both its AMG siblings.
Rumoured to deliver an identical 225kW and 400Nm of torque, the fast CLA should hit 100km/h in around 4.7 seconds.
Sharing the A 35's 4MATIC all-wheel drive and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (there's no manual), the swoopier CLA 35 is tipped to come with even more overtly sporting styling in the flesh.
Already captured testing in Germany, the CLA 35 has been spotted wearing more aerodynamic side skirts and large 19- or 20-inch rims.
Although disguised, the mules also appeared to sport significant revisions to the regular CLA's front and rear styling. Chiefly, the CLA 35 gets a redesigned nose that features gaping air intakes, while at the back there's a pair of oval tail pipes plus an aggressive diffuser.
Once launched, the CLA 35 will be joined by a flagship CLA 45 pairing a mightier 300kW 2.0-litre turbo with an all-new eight-speed dual clutch transmission and launch control. It should see the stylish four-door coupe return a sub-4.0 second dash to 100km/h and a top speed in excess of 300km/h.
