Nissan Australia has finally released local pricing and specifications for its upcoming 2022 Nissan QASHQAI line-up, which is now confirmed to comprise a four-variant small SUV range priced from $33,890 plus on-road costs.
The Aussie QASHQAI range will comprise the ST, ST+, ST-L and Ti trim levels, all of which will be powered by a 110kW/250Nm turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
These outputs mark a 4kW/50Nm improvement over the outgoing 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated unit, while the combined fuel consumption figure has been reduced from 6.9 to 6.1L/100km thanks in part to a new continuously variable transmission.
All variants in the 2022 Nissan QASHQAI range ride on MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension, however, none of them are fitted with all-wheel drive.
In terms of standard equipment, the entry-level ST grade comes with cloth upholstery, an 8.0-inch infotainment interface featuring both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, adaptive cruise control, push-button start, a 7.0-inch TFT display and automatic high-beam.
Headline safety credentials, meanwhile, include emergency autonomous braking (AEB) with junction, pedestrian and cyclist detection, plus forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, intelligent blind spot intervention, traffic sign recognition, rear cross-traffic alert with AEB, a centre airbag and rear parking sensors.
For an extra $4000, the pricier ST+ grade adds 18-inch alloys, a bigger 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone mirroring and satellite navigation, an around-view monitor and fog lights.
The $42,190 ST-L ups the ante again with adaptive LED headlights, LED indicators, rear privacy glass, leather-accented seats, 19-inch alloys, eight-way powered driver’s seat, stop and go function for the adaptive cruise control and dual-zone climate control.
At the top of the range, the flagship Ti grade commands an asking price of $47,390, netting buyers all of the goodies mentioned above plus a 10.8-inch head-up display, quilted leather upholstery, massaging front seats, hands-free tailgate and a 10-speaker Bose sound system.
These prices mark a substantial increase over the outgoing Nissan QASHQAI, which last retailed for between $28,590 and $39,090 plus ORCs depending on the variant.
Due in local dealerships towards the end of the year, Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson said the new QASHQAI “is a small SUV that’s big on what matters”.
Nissan’s third-generation compact SUV was originally meant to land Down Under in March but became a victim of the crippling global semi-conductor shortage.
