New Renault Megane CC

Renault has taken the wraps off its new drop-top in France, the Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet (CC), just in time for the European summer.

The new CC completes the Mégane range, which now encompasses six body styles, some of which are coming to Australia this year, including the high performance Megane RS 250 hatch.

According to Renault, the new Coupé-Cabriolet "is an open invitation to enjoy open-top motoring, and is an elegant illustration of Renault's new brand signature, 'Drive the Change'."

The Renault Mégane CC features a tempered glass folding roof to give the interior a light and airy feeling and takes 21 seconds to be fully lowered.

Three petrol and three diesel engines are offered in Europe and Renault has also decided to offer customers an efficient dual-clutch automatic transmission on top of manual.

The new Mégane CC will also be available in GT and GT Line trim, as will all vehicles in the Mégane family (third image). Part of Renault's sporty new push, GT and GT Line packages take the cars and add a sporty bent, bringing "distinctive styling and genuine driving pleasure within reach of as many motorists as possible," says the French company.

Designed to also "bridge the gap between mainstream Mégane and the all-out performance of Mégane Renaultsport 250," the new GT and GT Line models add things like bigger wheels, new body kits, rear spoilers/diffusers and a sportier cabin with things like alloy pedals and analogue rev counters.

The Mégane GT and GT Line models were first seen at the 2010 Geneva Motorshow in March, and will be available on all Mégane models: Hatchback, Coupé, Sport Tourer, Coupé-Cabriolet.
