Renault's striking Wind coupe-cabrio model will not be offered for sale in Australia. That's the official word from Renault Australia MD Rudi Koenig.
Displayed at this year's Geneva motor show, the Wind CC is a clever two-seater roadster that employs a unique twist-fold action to open and close the roof in super-quick time -- a segment-leading 12 seconds. The twist-fold process also allows the same amount of luggage space in the roadster's boot whether the roof is up or down.
The Wind's high waistline has enabled a very sportscar-like short windscreen and increased cabin comfort while the roof is down.
The Wind will be offered with a choice of two engine options: 1.6-litre petrol engine from the Twingo R.S (not sold here) or a 1.2-litre petrol engine when it goes on sale in time for Europe's summer.
According to the Renault, the brand's high-performance division Renault Sport has also fine-tuned the roadster's chassis.
Renault Australia's Rudi Koenig told the Carsales Network the brand would accommodate local open-top buyers exclusively with the Megane CC. The new Megane coupe-convertible will available in Australia in September.
The latest Megane CC retains the previous model's large folding glass roof, but now features a fixed glass wind central deflector between the rear headrests.
In Europe it is offered with a choice of diesel and petrol engines, and three specification levels (CC (base), Dynamique and Privilege.
Renault Australia will confirm the local lineup closer to the launch date.
