Mazda Australia has backed-up yesterday’s CX-8 announcement with confirmation the related Mazda CX-5 mid-size SUV will nab the same infotainment and standard equipment upgrades for 2023.
Due in local showrooms in the opening stages of next year, all examples of the updated MY23 Mazda CX-5 will feature a new 10.25-inch infotainment system and remote window function as per the bigger CX-8.
The fresh multimedia package is sweetened by the latest generation satellite-navigation system and wireless smartphone mirroring for all grades besides the entry-level Maxx.
The new tech is backed up by a pair of new USB-C ports on the centre console.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade to the range, however, are the extended 15,000km/12-month service intervals – up from 10,000km/12-month – for the 2.0-litre, 2.5-litre and 2.5-litre turbo-petrol versions, which should save consumers a fair bit of cash in terms of maintenance.
Also as per the CX-8, the CX-5’s colour palette is being expanded to include the new ‘Rhodium White’ metallic paint finish that debuted on the inbound Mazda CX-60.
All of these upgrades have inevitably driven the CX-5’s asking price up – again – by an even $1000 across the range.
But the quiet axing of the Maxx manual means the entry-point into the updated CX-5 range is $3000 higher at $35,390 plus on-road costs.
Regardless, Mazda Australia managing director Vinesh Bhindi said the update follows Mazda’s strategy of matching and evolving with changing customer needs.
“Mazda’s continued focus on improving and evolving product throughout its lifecycle has helped Mazda CX-5 remain a firm favourite SUV in Australia, resonating with customers for its timeless style, functionality and versatility,” he said.
“The emphasis of this update is to boost customer connectivity with the car, and follows a significant redesign earlier in 2022, which refreshed and sharpened the looks of the Mazda CX-5.”
