Mazda has announced an upgrade to the specification of the CX-5 SUV for the second time this year.
Mere months after the introduction of the 2.5-litre variants in the range, the CX-5 has undergone further running changes to specification for the local market. Chief among the latest changes is the suspension, which has been retuned through new damper and anti-roll bar settings, plus revised bushes. The importer says that these changes are intended to improve the car's ride quality. Two new colour options available are Blue Reflex Mica and Deep Crystal Blue Mica. A new silver finish is applied to the 17-inch alloy wheels of the CX-5 Maxx Sport. This same finish is available on the 19-inch wheels fitted to the Grand Touring and Akera variants.
Inside, the auto transmission shift lever has been redesigned for straight shifting. Grand Touring and Akera models gain six-way electric adjustment for the front-passenger seat and a memory function for the driver's seat.
Mazda has introduced a Safety Pack option for the CX-5 in the Maxx Sport level of trim. Comprising Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) and a rear view mirror with an auto dimming function, the option pack adds $1490 to the price of the Maxx Sport in both variants – front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. SCBS is also added to the standard equipment list for the range-topping CX-5 Akera – a first for the company.
"For many people safety is the most important factor when it comes to new car purchase," said Mazda Australia Marketing director, Alastair Doak, in a press release.
"Mazda CX-5 is already one of the safest SUVs available, but offering technologies like Blind Spot Monitoring and Smart City Brake support as an optional extra will give Mazda customers more choice. This, along with a range of styling and comfort tweaks, makes CX-5 an even stronger consideration."
