New Volkswagen T-Roc priced
Full details released for updated T-Roc Style and R-Line, joining flagship R small SUV in AugustRiding on the coat-tails of the inbound Volkswagen T-Roc R, VW has announced pricing and spec details for the remainder of the updated 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc small SUV line-up that arrives in August.
Prices start from $37,250 plus on-road costs for the entry-level Style variant, marking a $1750 increase over the current 110TSI Style.
However, Volkswagen says the extra outlay is justified by higher levels of standard equipment on top of the usual cosmetic and cabin upgrades.
Powered by the same 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the outgoing version, the new Style now features an 8.0-inch digital cockpit, wireless phone charging, Travel Assist, tinted rear windows, paddle shifters, driver profile and comfort sport front seats with microfleece upholstery.
These are in addition to existing creature comforts including keyless access, an 8.0-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring and DAB+ digital radio, electrically folding door mirrors, LED interior ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, dual-zone climate control and a leather-clad multifunction steering wheel.
The whole package rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels while transmission duties are handled by an eight-speed automatic.
Customers wanting more gear without stepping up to the higher-performance powertrain and all-wheel drive featured on the more expensive R-Line can opt for the $2000 Sound and Vision Package that adds a bigger 10.25-inch digital cockpit, sat-nav, wireless smartphone mirroring and a Beats premium sound system.
Those chasing leather upholstery, heated seats and electric power adjustment with memory function for the driver can also opt for the $3450 Vienna leather package.
Replacing the 140TSI Sport as the more athletic mid-range offering, the 2022 T-Roc R-Line carries a $45,350 plus ORCs sticker price into local showrooms – $2650 more than its Sport predecessor.
Like the Style, the R-Line has picked up Travel Assist, wireless charging, paddle shifters and a new multifunction steering wheel, as well as voice control, sport front seats and R-Line-specific cloth upholstery.
The rest of the standard equipment list reads similarly to the Style’s, albeit with some of the extra goodies pinched from the Sound and Vision pack.
Riding on unique 19-inch alloys and a sports suspension tune, the R-Line is powered by current Sport’s 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol mill that sends drive to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
This sportier disposition is reflected in its styling, with a more aggressive body kit and marginally lower ride height.
The macho looks can be dialled up further by selecting the optional Black Style package for $2900, which adds black 19-inch alloys, black interior and exterior styling details, black roof, adaptive dampers and the aforementioned Beats sound system.
Even more gear is added via the $3750 Nappa leather pack which, like the Style’s Vienna pack, throws in heated seats, driver’s seat power adjustment with memory, and, of course, leather upholstery.
All new T-Roc models have been treated to a sharpened-up cosmetic makeover, while the cabin has inherited some new soft-touch dash materials with touch-sensitive climate controls featuring on the R-Line (and R).
