NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Cadillac to reveal new flagship

General Motors luxury brand teases its all-new flagship limousine during the Oscars

In case you missed it, Cadillac used a minute-long TV commercial during yesterday's Oscars telecast in the US to introduce its all-new luxury flagship, the CT6.

Confirmed to be revealed on March 31 ahead of its world public debut at the Geneva motor show in April, the new limousine made a cameo appearance in a 60-second TVC during Hollywood's Academy Awards event.

The high-profile TV spot, which shows a white CT6 from various angles, marks the start of a new 'Dare Greatly' campaign as part of a GM push to reinvigorate its historic US premium brand globally under new chief, former Infiniti boss Johan de Nysschen.

Comparing Cadillac with a number of notable individuals from a range of different fields, the TVC features subtitles such as "How dare a college dropout invent the personal computer" and finished with: "How dare a 112-year-old car-maker reinvent itself".

Although Cadillac does not identify the vehicle in the TVC as the CT6, as can also be seen in these spy shots it's clearly a bigger sedan than the rear-wheel drive mid-size ATS and large CTS four-doors. Design cues from the Elmiraj concept are expected.

The CT6, which stands for Cadillac Tourer 6, rides on a new rear-drive GM platform codenamed Omega, which is expected to spawn a Buick limo for China, and is expected to debut new technologies like 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
