NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Hyundai shows off facelifted Tucson
Hyundai's mid-size SUV gets mild exterior tweaks, eight-speed auto, a new infotainment system and more safety kitHyundai has launched its facelifted Tucson SUV at the New York motor show.
On sale in Australia at the end of the third quarter of 2018, the refreshed Hyundai Tucson gets the car maker's latest restyled 'cascading' grille; new daytime running LED headlights and updated rear lamps.
The mid-life revisions also introduce new alloy wheels and, on high-grade models, chrome trim on the bottom of the side windows.
Under the bonnet, the current Tucson’s range of engines (120kW 2.0-litre, 130kW 1.6-litre turbo-petrol and 136kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel) carry over, although the turbo-diesel drops its old six-speed automatic for Hyundai’s latest eight-speed automatic.
Inside, the facelifted Hyundai Tucson has updated the 7.0-inch infotainment system to incorporate both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
In the rear seats there's a new second-row USB charger and, on some models, a new wireless charger for phones.
Other changes in the interior include new leather seats, a redesigned centre dashboard, an updated instrument cluster and new rear-view mirror.
Safety has also been improved during the model year 2019 updates and the popular Hyundai SUV now comes with both driver attention warning and high-beam assist.
Other new convenience items include a smart cruise control and a 360-degree surround view camera monitor, although the last bit of tech has yet to be confirmed for the Australian market.
Pricing for the updated Hyundai Tucson range will be announced closer to the late-Q3 on-sale date.
