NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Infiniti's large EV sedan revealed

Embargo broken a day early, the 'D-segment' electric vehicle has been outed on enthusiasts' website

Nissan executive Andy Palmer revealed to motoring.com.au last month that Infiniti would launch a new battery-electric vehicle at the New York Motor Show.

Palmer, speaking to Australian journalists in Britain to drive the Infiniti range, described the EV as a 'D-segment' sedan, which we reported would make it around the same size as Falcon/Commodore or possibly larger.

Now that New York is upon us, one of the visitors to the show has snapped pics of the Infiniti LE, reportedly a day ahead of the embargo on press information, and published them on the Tesla Motors Club website. With Infiniti sticking to its planned embargo (tomorrow) we can do little more until then, than bring you these pics already published. We believe that a couple of the images show an inductive charging plate underneath the boot of the show car. This is a device that allows the wireless recharging of batteries in the car with the vehicle parked over the plate. In theory it takes out much of the inconvenience of plugging in EVs for recharging each night — and especially in the event that the household runs out of milk at 10 pm.

Depending on such things as range and packaging, the Infiniti LE could be a significant milestone in the development of the electric car, so keep your eyes peeled for further information tomorrow.
