Lexus has pulled the drapes off a sportier version of its LS limousine at the New York motor show.
Called the Lexus LS 500 F Sport, the new flagship version of the Japanese car maker's Mercedes-Benz S-Class-rival is claimed to offer the "most dynamic driving experience in the model's history".
Available on both the LS 500 and the LS 500h hybrid, the F SPORT adds a sportier new grille, bumper that adds new large air intakes, sporty side skirts, a black boot lid moulding and larger 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the F Sport adds heavily-bolstered seats, a new 'F Sport'-branded steering wheel and an LFA supercar-inspired speedo and rev counter.
Even the pedals get the F Sport treatment with the Lexus LS gaining an aluminium footrest, brake pedal and accelerator.
A black suede headliner completes the transformation - although owners don't have to settle for a dark and sober interior - Lexus will offer F Sport customers the option of a bright 'Circuit Red' interior.
Despite the overtly sporty theme, the F Sport trim doesn't actually add any more power to the LS 500's 310kW/600Nm nor the LS 500h's 264kW/350Nm.
Instead, engineers concentrated on improving the large limo's handling.
As well as larger 245/45 front and 275/40 rear tyres, the standard car's brakes have been beefed up by the edition of larger 6-piston front calipers and 4 pistons on the rear.
For those high-flying execs in a real hurry the Japanese car maker says it will also offer LS buyers the option of an additional F Sport handling pack.
This adds Lexus' variable gear ratio steering, rear-wheel steer, active anti-roll bars and sport-tuned air suspension.
The result, is the car maker claims the LS feels more like a sports coupe than a luxury sedan in the corners.
It's not been confirmed if the LS F Sport trim is coming to Australia, nor how much it would cost over a standard LS 500.
