NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Sleek new Kia Carnival

Second teaser image confirms Kia's next Carnival will be a far sharper people-mover than before

Just as it promised it would last week, Kia has continued the pre-reveal campaign for its third-generation Carnival before its world debut next week.

This second teaser image reveals the side profile, confirming the 2105 Carnival – known as the Sedona in some markets -- will be vastly sleeker and lower-slung than its predecessor, despite retaining the ability to carry up to eight occupants.

Kia has also released the first technical details on its new full-size global people-mover, which goes on sale in Australia in January following its international premiere at the New York motor show on April 16.

The Korean car-maker says it will set new standards in its class by riding on an all-new chassis powered by a 3.3-litre GDI direct-injection petrol V6, which should bring more performance and efficiency.

Kia also says the new Carnival will come with “a host of innovative technology and safety features, including Kia’s next-generation UVO Infotainment & Telematics system” including many new “eServices” features.

Aside from new connectivity functions, expect more refinement, equipment, luxury and safety, perhaps including driver aids like blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning.

The Carnival as the final model to be renewed under former Kia design chief and now president Peter Schreyer and introduces a completely new design language for other future Kia models.

Australia’s top-selling people-mover last year, the existing Carnival dates back to 2007 and was last updated in 2011.
