NEW YORK MOTOR SHOW: Toyota teases next Kluger
Next-generation Toyota Kluger revealed in tightly cropped teaser ahead of early 2014 local launchToyota has revealed a teaser image of the third-generation Kluger that will go on sale in Australia within 12 months.
Due to make its world debut as North America’s new Highlander at the New York motor show next week (March 27), Australia’s next Kluger will be imported from the US rather than Japan.
As we reported when we spied a pre-production version of the all-new seven-seat crossover in Melbourne last November the new Kluger is likely to be larger in all directions.
This tightly cropped teaser image shows, the redesigned version of Toyota’s Camry-based crossover will present slimmer new back-swept headlights and a grille with more chrome, at least for the American market.
No further details have been revealed, but Toyota Australia has previously confirmed a February on-sale date for the new model, which will continue to be available here only in V6 petrol form, with hybrid and diesel versions off-limits Down Under.
The Prado off-roader continues to be Toyota’s diesel representative in Australia’s large SUV segment, in which it continues to be the top seller ahead of Ford’s locally built Territory, Holden’s Korean-made Captiva 7 and the Kluger.
