Next Hyundai IONIQ 5 allocation about to drop
Third batch of Korean electric SUVs will comprise 135 units as demand for Hyundai’s first dedicated EV continues to soarAustralia’s next allocation of 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5s will go up for grabs from 1:00pm AEST on August 10, when the latest batch of EVs formally marks the arrival of the updated electric SUV line-up.
As we reported in July, the Hyundai IONIQ 5’s entry price has been reduced by $2000 to $69,990 plus on-road costs following the removal of a few features now reserved solely for the flagship AWD Techniq variant, which in turn has increased in price to $77,500 plus ORCs (+$2000).
The only catch with the next IONIQ 5 release is that the cars won’t be available in the Northern Territory, but Hyundai says that will change in future “as supply frees up”.
A Hyundai Australia spokesperson told carsales the brand is targeting major metropolitan cities while “overwhelming consumer demand” continues to outpace production of the IONIQ 5.
Hyundai has sold 346 examples of the IONIQ 5s so far this year (to July), however, that tally will grow by 135 units to 481 by this time next week if demand for the 2021 carsales Car of the Year is as strong as Hyundai says.
