Nissan 360 event to mark 80th anniversary

Birthday celebrations to host new technology, products and strategies for Nissan-Renault alliance
Nissan will lift the lid on a number of new technologies, global products and brand strategies at its ‘360’ experience in the US next month.
The month-long event, which coincides with the Japanese marque’s 80th anniversary, will be used to display and demonstrate numerous “breakthroughs in vehicle technology, sustainability and market expansion” across the Nissan family of brands.
Nissan 360 will bring together key stakeholders, investors, suppliers, dealers and industry experts from across the globe. More than 100 Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun vehicles will be made available for test drives at a series of specially-designed courses at the former El Toro Marine Corps site in southern California.
Additionally, presentations will be offered to keep attendees abreast of the progress of Nissan’s mid-term business plan, Power 88. The strategy, which was announced in June 2011, targets an eight per cent share of the global market and an eight per cent operating margin by the end of the 2016 fiscal year.
Hosting the briefings is Nissan’s senior executive team, including president and CEO, Carlos Ghosn. The top brass are expected to announce “significant” new technologies, and plans for further expansion as part of the Nissan-Renault alliance. The announcements coincide with Nissan’s more recent “expansion partnerships” with Ashok Leyland, AvtoVAZ, Daimler, Dongfeng and Mitsubishi Motors.
Nissan says that it also expects to re-emphasise its ambitions in zero-emission vehicles while also revealing plans to grow its market presence in countries including Brazil, China, Mexico, Russia and the USA. A number of new safety technologies, in-car connectivity systems and new levels of automation are also expected to make their debut at the 360 event.
“Nissan is proud to be at the cutting-edge of automotive technology, with exciting prospects that will help shape the future use, brand appeal and environmental impact of vehicles amid continued global growth in overall vehicle demand,” said Nissan president and CEO, Carlos Ghosn.
“Nissan is poised for further growth and innovation developments after 80 years of trend-setting in our industry. This is an opportunity to celebrate that contribution to a vital business segment, while signalling the very real opportunities we face to transform vehicle usage for generations to come.”
