Nissan Australia has today announced pricing for its JUKE compact SUV and Pathfinder large SUV models.
Set to join the Nissan range from October (2013), the JUKE will start from $21,990. The compact SUV has been immensely popular overseas, and locally, will challenge newcomers including the Holden Trax and Peugeot 2008, and soon to be released Ford EcoSport and Renault Captur.
With a unique headlight design and motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster the JUKE is bound to turn heads. It will be offered locally in entry-grade JUKE ST, mid-grade JUKE ST-S and high-grade JUKE Ti-S. All are powered by Nissan’s 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is turbocharged on mid and high-grade variants.
JUKE ST and ST-S variants are offered exclusively in front-wheel drive format while the range-topping JUKE Ti-S is an all-wheel drive only proposition. The front-drive JUKE ST is offered with a five-speed manual transmission or optional X-TRONIC continuously variable transmission (CVT) while the ST-S adopts a six-speed manual gearbox. The top-shelf Ti-S is fitted exclusively with a CVT.
“This is an exciting, fun-to-drive car that we expect will bring many new customers to Nissan,” said Nissan Australia’s marketing manager, Peter Clissold.
“I’m confident Australian buyers of Small SUVs will find the all-new JUKE to be exceptional value. Each grade in the JUKE model range has a compelling mix of standard equipment in a vehicle rich in stand-out styling and dynamic performance.”
For those wanting something a little larger, the all-new Pathfinder will also join the Nissan SUV range from October (2013).
Like the JUKE, Pathfinder will be offered in three model grades and with the option of two and all-wheel drive. The entry-spec Pathfinder ST 2WD starts at $39,990.
The new Pathfinder is somewhat of a departure from its body-on-frame predecessor; now featuring a monocoque construction alongside what Nissan says is a long list of innovations and enhancements, including a stylish exterior, flexible interior features and more car-like driving experience.
The seven-seat Pathfinder powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine across the range, and is offered exclusively with Nissan’s X-TRONIC continuously variable transmission. Nissan has said previously that it will not offer a turbo-diesel option with the introduction of its new Pathfinder, but is looking to offer a petrol-electric hybrid variant locally, possibly as early as the middle of next year (2014).
“The all-new Nissan Pathfinder is an outstanding seven-seat crossover,” said Clissold.
“With impressive comfort and versatility, this new generation model is ideally suited for Australian families and adventure seekers.”
