Nissan launches dog-friendly travel range

Japanese car-maker introduces new canine-friendly travel accessory range for dog-loving SUV owners.

Nissan Australia has launched a new range of dog-friendly accessories for a selection of models to make transporting furry friends easier.

Available for the Nissan QASHQAI, X-TRAIL and Patrol SUVs, the doggy transport range features accessories such as an all-terrain dog bed, entry/exit ramp and more.

Pricing starts at $339 and tops out at just over $1200, depending on the dog’s size (small to medium or large), which Dog Pack you select, and which of the three SUVs it’s designed for.

The basic kit includes a rear protection tray or mat (depending on model), a reflective boot lip protector, an over-seat cargo area organiser, an all-terrain bed and a four-piece dog travel set (easy store bowl, lead, waste bag holder and sealable food bag).

From there, a retractable ramp can be added for easier entry/exit into the boot, extending to 1.6 metres in length when opened up, before folding back down to a quarter of the size.

A cargo barrier to make sure your pup stays where it should while on the move also comes as another option or can be included with the ramp and full range of accessories, priced from $1201.

Nissan says the entire range can now be ordered from Nissan dealerships nationwide and can be added to the purchase of a brand-new Nissan vehicle as well as existing vehicles.

“For so many of us, our pets are like a member of the family, and now it’s easier than ever to bring your dog along with you on your next road trip, whether to the local park or to the other side of the country,” said Nissan Australia boss Adam Paterson.

“The Nissan Dog Pack puts your furry friend front and centre, with ramps, comfortable beds, travel bowls for food and water and new ways to organise your cargo area. Both you and your pet will love our new accessories.”

Nissan isn’t the first to offer pet-friendly car accessories, with a similar concept previously launched by Land Rover.
