Nissan Pathfinder and Juke score five stars
ANCAP releases crash test data for new Nissan SUVs; judges Pathfinder could do better by pedestriansThe Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) has declared Nissan's Pathfinder and Juke SUVs winners in a new round of crash safety testing.
Both cars were rated five-star safe by ANCAP, with the Pathfinder only faulted for a less than excellent performance in the area of pedestrian safety. It was a good result nonetheless, as ANCAP spokesman, Jack Haley said.
"It is very encouraging to see Nissan building five-star cars and the Pathfinder result follows other Nissan five-star results over the last few years," Haley was quoted saying in a statement released by ANCAP.
"It is becoming increasingly difficult to sell cars in Australia without a five-star safety rating. Nissan should be congratulated on raising the Pathfinder to this higher level of safety.
"With the Pathfinder, JUKE, DUALIS, Pulsar and LEAF all achieving a five-star safety rating, we look forward to Nissan bringing the remainder of its fleet to this level".
All variants of the Pathfinder achieved the maximum score, but only the Juke in front-wheel drive 1.6-litre form was tested. Other variants remain unassessed, ANCAP says. The Juke was previously tested in New Zealand, for the same rating.
