Nissan wheels out QASHQAI N-Sport special

Added value and $26K drive-away base price for small Nissan SUV as redesigned model looms

Nissan has introduced drive-away pricing for entry-level ST 2WD versions of its QASHQAI small SUV, which will be replaced by an all-new model late this year, including a new N-Sport model claimed to add $1800 of extra value.

Until August 31, the base QASHQAI – powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine driving the front wheels via a CVT auto – is available for $25,900 including on-road charges, which normally cost extra.

Also available until the end of next month is the new N-Sport Special Edition based on the same model but adding high-contrast 18-inch alloy wheels and ‘Ice chrome’ highlights including front and rear styling plates, front lip finisher, side door sills and trunk lower finisher.

Nissan says those extras are valued at $1800, but the N-Sport’s price tag is only $1000 higher at $26,990 drive-away.

Premium paint is available on both models for additional cost and the offer is not open to government, rental or national fleet customers.

The entry-level QASHQAI ST petrol is normally priced at $25,990 plus on-road costs, rising to $28,490 plus ORCs for the CVT version, $28,690 plus ORCs for the N-Sport CVT and $34,490 plus ORCs for the Ti manual.

The front-drive-only QASHQAI is also available with a 1.6-litre diesel/auto powertrain, priced at $33,990 plus ORCs for the TS and $39,990 plus ORCs for the TL flagship.

Nissan Australia CEO and managing director Richard Emery said the N-Sport includes all the standard safety features of the five-star ANCAP-rated QASHQAI.

The QASHQAI has notched up more than 33,200 here since its release in June 2014, making it one of the brand’s top-sellers both in Australia and globally, where about 2.5 million have found homes in the same timeframe. Worldwide, including the original QASHQAI known in Australia as the Dualis, about 3.3 million have been sold since 2007.

“The QASHQAI N-Sport Special Edition offers something unique to the highly regarded QASHQAI range,” he said. “The package includes all the safety, technology and comfort the QASHQAI is known for with accents that add a distinctive flair.

Nissan QASHQAI pricing (drive-away):

ST 2.0 2WD CVT N-Sport -- $26,990
