Out now: motoring iPad App 47

The latest issue of the motoring.com.au iPad App magazine features the heavy-hitting 430KW supercharged HSV GTS

Australia’s most powerful production car, the GTS, leads the new VF Commodore-based HSV GEN-F range. Its supercharged 6.2-litre OHV V8 pumps out more kilowatts than AMG's E 63, M Division's M5 or Audi's RS6. Download the App and join us deep inside the HSV operation to look at how this beast came together from the ground up and walk you through model-by-model, identifying options on each variant.

Land Rover recently welcomed media from around the world to its spiritual home, Packington Hall in Warwickshire, England, for the celebration of the company's 65th anniversary. Lined up outside the home itself were examples of every significant model from the company's past – as well as quite a few obscure ones. Read about this extraordinary gathering, then in a special slideshow we feature everything from military-commissioned one offs to the Land Rover's latest luxury vehicle, the Range Rover Sport.

Then we stop looking and start some serious driving, getting behind the wheel of some of the hottest new vehicles available.

For 2013 Volkswagen has moved the hot hatch yardstick even further from the reach of its rivals with the launch of its seventh generation Golf GTI. The latest model offers more speed, improved dynamics, increased safety and a suite of infotainment enhancements.

It might be smaller than most, but Ford’s new EcoSport has a big heart. Ford's first compact SUV is a three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that displaces only 1.0-litre (which believe it or not is less than many big-bore motorcycles) yet according to this drive, punches well above its weight.

And maybe the best is left for last. There has been an extremely long run-up to the Jaguar F-TYPE sports car and according to motoring.com.au's Ken Gratton, it is a 'snarling beast' that "should have Porsche worried." Ken was like a kid in a candy shop as he punted the powerful new cat around Spain's Navarra circuit.

Plus there is industry and car news, gaming previews, our gadgets section showcases a watch based on the design of a truck and a boot-load of interactive entertainment.

Issue 47 of the motoring.com.au App can be downloaded right now for free from iTunes Newsstand at the App Store.
