Out now: motoring iPad App 62

In this FREE issue of the motoring.com.au iPad App our experts detail their favourite cars of 2013

Here we are at the end of the year, those submissives (and the more dominant among us) have been let loose to have their say. It's not about what you the consumer should consider for your next car. This time, it's all about us...

What cars would we, the writers at motoring.com.au want to drive and/or own? There's nothing scientific about the selection process... Each member of the team was given cart blanche to list five cars that rocked their world during the year -- and after much discussion and arm-wrestling we have come up with six Top Cars. (Why six? Don't ask unless you have four hours to kill).

Ford Mustang celebrated its 50th birthday in dazzling style as the Blue Oval staged the reveal of its sixth-generation 2015 model at six massive shindigs around the globe. Revealed simultaneously around the planet in a massive razzle-dazzle affair that was akin to a Hollywood movie premiere. Due here in 2015, we bring you the highlights of the launch and delve into just how important this new halo car will be for the future of Ford.

Plus, we trace five decades of the Blue Oval’s original pony car, which becomes a global model for the first time in its sixth-generation. Find out why some consider the MkII still to be the best Mustang ever.

Also in this issue of the motoring app for iPad we compare a couple of hot hatches at the top of their game. For this test, we chose the Volkswagen Golf GTI and its European-built rival, the Ford Focus ST. Both are five-door hatches with 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engines. Both are front-wheel drive and sport the usual list of go-faster parts.

If you're all primed for the New Year car sales, then be equipped with all the information you need to make a level-headed decision. In this issue we test drive the new Audi S3, Nissan GT-R NISMO and another from the hot hatch brigade, the newly launched Renault Clio RS 200.

There's literally hours of engaging automotive entertainment for your holidays inside the motoring app for iPad issue 62. While you're at it, make sure you also download any issue that you may have missed during the year. They’re all available for FREE now and every fortnight, from the Newsstand in the iTunes store.
