Out now: motoring iPad App 67

In this FREE issue of the motoring.com.au iPad App we pit Audi's S3 Sportback in an explosive challenge against the BMW M135i hatch

Turbo six-cylinder rear-drive versus turbo four-cylinder all-wheel drive... It’s an interesting comparison.  So can you blame us for taking a couple of days out of the office humdrum and hitting the road to experience the difference first-hand?

A somewhat dusty aerodrome baking in the late summer sun was the venue chosen to answer a question we have been asking for some months now: Is Audi's recently-launched S3 Sportback a worthy challenger for the explosive BMW M135i hatch?

Join us for a run down the quarter-mile, and beyond, to experience why hot hatch enthusiasts have never had it so good. You might be surprised by the results; find them in this iPad App magazine.

Putting someone on a plane for 30 hours to a small, cold and icy town 1000km east of Moscow sounds like a form of punishment. But there is a reward – taking part in the best event on ice this side of the Winter Olympics.

The Mazda MX-5 ice racing has become a fixture on the motoring calendar, with the rivalry between countries becoming feisty rather than friendly. Open top driving probably isn't best enjoyed at minus 15 degrees, but when you're sliding around corners at 130km/h, the comfort factor is a million miles from your mind.

In the name of road testing, we have also pursued some more practical driving- experiences. Starting with the mid-sized C-Class, it's Mercedes-Benz’s bread and butter. It outsells every other passenger vehicle the three-pointed star brand builds, plus we get behind the wheel of Toyota's all-new Kluger, which takes a step up in terms of cabin space, storage, quality and finish.

And finally, the bosses at Volvo have been smiling a lot lately, especially with their early success in V8 Supercars. Will they still be smiling after we deliver our assessment of the Australia-only limited edition S60 race car built by Volvo’s global motorsport and performance partners Polestar in Sweden?

There's also a massive photo gallery with the spotlight shining on the season opener of the F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne, which proved to be sensational for all the wrong reasons. We've got the pics to prove it.

All this and more – packed into a digital magazine that you can quickly flick to when you've had enough of 'work related' things on your ipad ... and it's FREE.

The motoring.com.au iPad App issue 67 is available for download now from Newsstand in the iTunes store.
