Fiat has commenced the official countdown to the reveal of its all-new 500X, which has now been confirmed to make its global debut at next month's Paris motor show.
The front, side and rear profiles of the pint-size Italian SUV can be clearly seen in this official video released less than a month ahead of it public premiere in Paris on October 2 and its Australian release in early 2016.
As indicated by previous spy shots and official shots of its bodyshell on the production line in Italy, the all-new Fiat SUV will look dramatically different to the Jeep Renegade with which it shares its platform.
It will also share only vague graphic similarities with the rest of the 500 micro-car range, including its large rounded headlights, with the rear-end looking more like that of a MINI Countryman's.
No official details have yet been released, but the 500X is expected to be powered by a range of small-displacement petrol and diesel engines, led by Fiat's diminutive 900cc twin-cylinder turbo-petrol TwinAir engine.
It could also share 1.4-, 1.6- and 2.4-litre four-cylinder engines with the Renegade, and front- and all-wheel drive versions are also expected.
At about 4.2 metres long, the 500X will fall midway between the Fiat 500 mini people-movers – the five-seat 500L and seven-seat 500L Living, which are less likely to be sold in Australia.
Priced from under $25,000 to compete with small SUVs like the Holden Trax, Ford EcoSport, Nissan JUKE, Mitsubishi ASX, Skoda Yeti and Peugeot 2008, the 500X will be Fiat's top-selling model in crossover-crazy Australia.
