After months of official teasers in the lead-up to its world debut at the Paris motor show tomorrow, the all-new BMW 3 Series has been revealed from every angle a day early – via BMW’s own website configurator.
Pictured here from almost every angle, the seventh generation of BMW’s most important model grows sharper, edgier and higher-tech in its fight against the dominant Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Although evolutionary in its classic rear-drive sedan proportions, the G20-series 330i you see here presents angrier headlights that flank a wider kidney grille and are intersected by a more aggressive front bumper with big air inlets and fog light recesses.
Based on BMW’s latest CLAR platform that’s shared with the everything from the 5 and 7 Series sedans to the X3/4/5/6/7 SUVs, the new 3 Series is expected to be bigger, stiffer yet lighter and more efficient than before.
Powered by BMW’s latest turbo petrol and diesel inline four- and six-cylinder engines – and another plug-in hybrid powertrain – the new BMW 3 Series will again also be offered in sedan, wagon and eventually coupe and convertible form.
New CLAR technologies to be available in at least some models will include BMW’s new 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster, plus latest iDrive 7 infotainment via a 10.25-inch central touch-screen, voice or gesture control.
Stand by for full official details.
