PARIS MOTOR SHOW: New Kia Sorento

Kia releases first sketches of its third-generation Sorento

Kia's third-generation Sorento has emerged in the first official renderings ahead of its world debut in Korea late next month.

Featuring a lower roof, higher beltline, deep bodyside sculpting and more upright 'tiger-nose' grille, the redesigned large SUV presents a more aggressive stance than the existing Sorento on sale in Australia since October 2009.

Kia says the MkIII Sorento, which will make its motor show debut in Paris on October 2 alongside the world premiere of Kia's all-new Carnival people-mover, was designed at its design studios in Korea, Germany and the USA.

The existing Sorento is Kia Australia's fourth best selling model behind the Rio, Cerato and Sportage, but so far this year remains less popular than a host of large SUV rivals here.

They include the Toyota Prado, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Holden Captiva 7, Ford Territory, Toyota Kluger, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Wrangler, Mazda CX-9, Mitsubishi Pajero, Nissan Pathfinder and Mazda CX-9.
