Peugeot has released a new 'Downtown' option pack that adds more street-cred to its small 2008 crossover range, which also scores a new variant and price hikes across the board.
Announced yesterday – the same day French arch-rival Renault released its all-new Captur compact SUV – the Downtown pack comprises a range of interior and exterior embellishments.
They include brightly-coloured external styling decals including Citrus (lime), Orange and Fluro Pink for the upper edge of the rear doors and the roof bars ($302.27), plus the side mirrors ($328.75), lower body ($516.42) and wheel centre caps ($70.51).
Inside, there are matching decals for the 2008's rear-view mirror ($143.55), as well as the air-vents, front door mouldings, steering wheel, visors, centre console and floor mats for a total of $297.51.
At the same time, Peugeot has increased the price of base 2008 Active models by $500, which sees the entry price rise to $22,490 plus on-road costs (still $500 less than that of the Captur), and the price of top-shelf Allure and Outdoor models by $1000.
It has also added a mid-range Allure 1.6-litre manual model, priced at $28,990 plus ORCs.
Otherwise the 2008's mechanical line-up remains unchanged, with two petrol and one diesel engine driving the front wheels.
All models continue to come with a reversing camera, parking sensors, six airbags (including side curtains), 7.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power-folding heated wing mirrors, 16-inch alloys, cruise control and speed-limiter.
“The 2008 is already a stylish and well specified city SUV – the addition of the Downtown pack allows owners to stamp their own mark of individuality on their vehicle,” said Peugeot Australia General Manager, John Startari.
