Peugeot 3008 and 5008 Crossway Editions released

Peugeot Australia has released special Crossway Edition versions of its 3008 small SUV and 5008 large SUV, priced $2500 higher than the Allure variants on which they’re based.

Adding extra value, however, is a claimed $3700 in extra standard equipment for both the Peugeot 3008 Crossway ($43,490 plus on-road costs, instead of $40,990 for the standard mid-range 3008 Allure) and the seven-seat Peugeot 5008 Crossway ($46,990 plus ORCs, instead of $44,490 for the regular entry-level 5008 Allure).

Just Crossway Edition models will be available (60 3008s and 40 5008s) and unique additions include a premium Focal 10-speaker audio system with sub-woofer and full Alcantara trim with emerald blue stitching for the seats, centre armrest, door trims and steering wheel. In addition, the 5008 Crossway gains branded floor mats.

Differentiating them externally is a black diamond roof, chrome pack and a Crossway pack including badging and B-pillar motifs featuring a four-point compass with latitude and longitude co-ordinates, paying homage to the geographic location of the factory in which the Crossway Editions are built.

The 12-way, 515-Watt, 10-speaker Focal sound system, which replaces the standard 160W/eight-speaker set-up, comprises four inverted 35mm tweeters, four 165mm mid-range woofers, a 80mm bespoke Polyglass membrane centre speaker and a 200mm woofer with Focal’s proprietary PowerFlower technology.

Peugeot says that following its design, the sound system was subject to 126 hours of tuning work inside an anechoic (echo-free) chamber and then 1600km of on-road testing to ensure sound quality in real-world conditions.

“Peugeot customers appreciate style and the Crossway Editions deliver unique features that cannot be had on any other Peugeot SUV,” said Peugeot Australia managing director Ben Farlow.

“The added features bring more than greater value; they also bring greater enjoyment. Be it from the Alcantara seats to the premium Focal audio, the Crossways have been devised to be enjoyed.”

Four exterior paint colours are offered (Emerald Green, Artense Grey, Platinum Silver and Gust Blue) with the standard 18-inch alloy wheels and there are no changes to the 121kW 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine or six-speed Aisin automatic transmission with paddle shift in either model.

Other standard carryover features include the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit with 8.0-inch capacitive touch-screen, 12.3-inch digital head-up instrument panel and a compact leather-trimmed steering wheel.

Safety equipment extends to autonomous emergency braking including pedestrian detection, active blind spot detection, active lane keeping assistance, advanced driver attention alert, adaptive cruise control with stop function, 360-degree reversing camera and front camera, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition and intelligent speed adaptation.

Convenience items comprise MirrorScreen System (MirrorLink, Android Auto & Apple Carplay), wireless induction charging for compatible smartphones, keyless entry and start, auto high-beam, parallel and perpendicular parking assistance and a hands-free electric tailgate.

Naturally, both Crossway Editions come with Peugeot Australia’s five-year/unlimited-km warranty and five-year roadside assist program.
