Peugeot is weeks away from introducing revised 508 and 3008 models to the Australian market – with reversing cameras fitted as standard equipment across each range.
Previously, the 508 large car was only available with a reversing camera as standard in the Allure and GT levels of trim. Now the camera is also fitted to the base-model 508 Active.
Additionally, the 2008 will migrate to a new reversing camera system that has been engineered in Australia for that application. The view to the rear appears in the car's seven-inch touch screen display, rather than in the rear-view mirror, as was the case in the past.
"We see the addition of reverse camera technology to our SUV and large sedan range as a significant step in improving the safety quotient of our vehicles," said Peugeot Australia General Manager, John Startari, as quoted in a press release issued today.
"Safety is a vital facet of vehicle ownership and we are working to offer this important driver aid as standard on as many vehicles as possible in the future. And, where it is not standard, we are working towards an accessory solution."
Peugeot dealers already hold stock of the upgraded 2008, with the new model year 508 and 3008 due later this month, with full prices and specifications to be revealed then.
