Peugeot's 3008 will get a much needed new look, based on this teaser image that has been released by Focal, the French audio brand supplying the infotainment system for the high-end variant in the new range.
The teaser shot appeared on Focal's Facebook page and was subsequently picked up by French automotive site, theautomobilist.fr and international site Motor1.com. It's believed that the 3008 will be officially revealed by Peugeot tonight, our time.
Peugeot has adopted a cleaner 308-style nose for the new 3008, which now resembles an SUV more than the mini MPV style of the current car. As we reported from the Frankfurt motor show last year, the new 3008 is not only a replacement for the current model, but also likely to supplant the Mitsubishi-sourced 4008, which is based on the ASX. Given both the 4008 and 3008 are five-seaters – and the new car has adopted an SUV stance – there's now much more potential for sales overlap in the range, making the 4008 redundant.
Expect the new car to adopt Peugeot's unconventional driving position, complete with small, low-set wheel and high-mounted instruments. Mechanicals and platform architecture (EMP2) will be shared with the 308, which means the 3008 range will be predominantly front-wheel drive, although Peugeot is reportedly considering an all-wheel drive variant.
