Peugeot has introduced a new limited-run version of its storied 308 GTi hot hatch to Australia.
Known as the Peugeot 308 GTi Sport, the newcomer is strictly limited to 20 vehicles, each bringing a bespoke body kit with lip spoilers and a rear roof spoiler.
Available now, the Sport is priced from $42,990 (plus on-road costs) including metallic paint, which is said to represent a $3500 saving over the donor car.
The five-piece body kit comprises a front spoiler, side skirt extensions, rear bumper corner extensions, rear diffuser and rear spoiler ‘gurney flap’.
Along with the cosmetic embellishments, the 308 GTi Sport includes a driver training course worth $200.
The Sport packs a familiar 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine good for 200kW which sends drive to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and Torsten limited-slip differential. The four-pot rockets the 1205kg GTi from 100km/h from rest in 6.0 seconds, the car-maker says.
As with the regular GTi, the GTi Sport packs 19-inch alloy wheels, 9.7-inch touchscreen with head-up display, keyless entry and start, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bucket seats, full LED headlights and massaging front seats.
Safety equipment comprises Active Blind Spot Monitoring, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Advanced Driver Attention Alert, Smartbeam Assistance and speed limit sign recognition and recommendation.
The 308 GTi Sport is backed by Peugeot’s five-year unlimited kilometre warranty and five-year roadside assist programs.
It is available in black, Artense Grey and Magnetic Blue.
