Expect to pay between $1350 and $3000 more for a new Peugeot car in 2022, as the French brand increases the price of admission across its entire model range.
At the same time, the Australian distributor has also removed important safety equipment from the 2022 Peugeot Expert van, including side airbags and active cruise control, which is a consequence of the global semi-conductor shortage.
Following news of price hikes of up to $3000 for the Peugeot 5008 flagship SUV, the car-maker has confirmed its top-selling vehicle, the Peugeot 3008 mid-size SUV, has copped an increase of between $2250 and $2850 depending on the model.
The 3008 range now kicks off at $47,240 plus on-road costs.
The top-shelf MY22 3008 GT Sport Plug-In Hybrid AWD announced late last year holds firm at $79,990 plus ORCs.

Another notable model, and the French brand’s second-best seller, the Peugeot 2008 small SUV, has risen in price by between $1750 and $2300, now starting at $36,740 plus ORCs.
It should be noted that the 2008 GT Sport and 3008 GT Sport now get a (previously optional) panoramic opening glass sunroof as standard.
Peugeot Australia says the increased cost of purchase for its vehicles is due to “an increase in production costs which has resulted in an increase to the MY22 pricing”.
“There has been a four-to-five per cent increase in MLP [manufacturer’s list price] across the Peugeot passenger, SUV and LCV range from MY21 to MY22 models,” the company said.
The Peugeot Partner, Expert and Boxer vans are up by between $1350 and $2450 for the 2022 model year, following modest price increases seen in 2021.
The “specification adjustment” to the Expert mid-size van results in the deletion of side thorax airbags and active cruise control, the latter replaced by regular cruise control.
However, Peugeot asserts that: “During the transition to the MY22 pricing adjustment of the LCV range, all Peugeot Boxer, Partner and Expert vans with a contract of sale date on or before December 31, 2021, are price protected with the previous MLP honoured.”
Peugeot Australia’s national sales increased by almost a third in 2021, up from 2129 units to 2805. But it remains a long way from the 5000-plus annual sales it was routinely achieving a decade ago.
