It seems the Australian arms of Peugeot and Citroen are weathering the ongoing supply-versus-demand storm better than many other brands at the moment.
The local distributor for both French car-makers, Inchcape, has confirmed to carsales that both brands have solid stock levels available across all key vehicle segments – and more new vehicles on the way.
“Peugeot Australia currently has stock across passenger, SUV and LCV [sales segments] on the ground and readily available in Australia and in transit,” said a spokesperson for the brands.
“There is also currently Citroen stock readily available in Australia and in transit.
“Customers are encouraged to speak to their local Peugeot retailer, who is best placed to discuss stock availability for their specific order.”
But while the spokesperson confirmed healthy stock levels and supply, they stopped short of confirming exactly which models were in better supply than others; just that wait times varied depending on model, variant and specification.
However, they did confirm the local launch of the facelifted Citroen C5 Aircross had been delayed somewhat and that “further information with regards to arrival timing will be shared in due course”.
This is the first time the brand has openly confirmed the updated SUV for the Australian market and explains some of the recent special offers and promotional pricing being applied on the current version.
“Further information on the MY23 Peugeot and Citroen range will be communicated in due course,” the spokesperson said.
As for the year ahead, Peugeot Citroen Australia believes it’s in relatively good stead but is by no means getting ahead of itself.
“We’re not able to predict where the market will take us over the next year, but… we will continue to work closely with the factory to ensure supply can meet the local market requirements,” the spokesperson said.
