Peugeot Australia has announced a host of MY22 updates for its light commercial van range, before the upgraded Peugeot Partner, Expert and Boxer arrive in showrooms early next year.
Pricing for the French manufacturer’s light commercial vehicle range continues to start from $26,990 plus on-road costs for the short-wheelbase Partner with manual transmission, but the refreshed van range is set to bring three new permanent variant names – City, Pro and Premium – and more choice for buyers.
Short- and long-wheelbase versions of the Partner and Expert continue to be available, while the larger Boxer van will be offered only in a single long-wheelbase body.
Two new model variants have also been permanently added to the van range: Partner Long with automatic transmission and Expert Long with manual transmission.
A limited-edition Sport variant is also offered in the form of the Expert Sport Short joining with a host of special touches and the highest price tag of the range: $49,990 (plus ORCs).
In a nutshell, Peugeot says entry-level City grades are all about work, while Pro grades increase equipment levels to create a ‘fit for purpose’ van and top-spec Premium variants offer a more car-like feel. See below for a full breakdown.
Peugeot Australia boss Kate Gillis said the revitalised LCV range presents a significant opportunity for the brand’s continued growth in the commercial segment.
"We have seen how Peugeot's LCV range has resonated with Australian consumers, particularly with small and medium-sized business owners, since its 2019 launch and we are confident the new range will further increase that appeal,” she said.
"With a line-up that now caters to a broader variety of customer needs and aligns with the expectations of our buyers, there is great anticipation for the arrival of the new range.”
The petrol-only Peugeot Partner range is offered in both short- and long-wheelbase bodies, with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed auto.
All variants get power from the same 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which delivers 81kW/205Nm when paired to the manual gearbox or 96kW/230Nm for auto variants.
The only manual gearbox option for the Partner range is in the entry-grade short-wheelbase Partner City (from $26,990). For an extra $3000, the same City grade can be had with the more powerful auto, while a long-wheelbase Partner City auto is priced from $32,490.
Standard equipment for City grades includes a maximum payload of 660kg for Short and 1000kg for Long wheelbase variants, a 5.0-inch infotainment unit, barn-style rear doors, six airbags, brake assist, reverse camera and rear parking sensors. Other Partner City features include:
The Partner Pro, priced from $31,990, adds dual sliding side doors, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), speed sign recognition, forward collision warning, lane assist, a flip-down table, under-seat storage and a larger 8.0-inch touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Partner Pro also features:
Finally, the range-topping Partner Premium (from $34,480 plus ORCs) carries over the same features as the Pro, but adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel, folding side mirrors, keyless entry with push button start and body-coloured exterior features.
Priced from $38,990 plus on-road costs, the mid-size Peugeot Expert is available in both short- (4.95m total length) and long-wheelbase (5.3m) versions with a single 110kW/370Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with the choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions.
Only two combinations are available with the six-speed manual, including the range-opening Expert City Short Manual (from $38,990) and the Expert Pro Long Manual (from $41,990).
The entry Peugeot Expert City Short comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, a 1.4-tonne payload, four airbags, dual-sliding side doors, rear barn doors, reverse camera, a 5.3 cubic-metre cargo area with a glazed dividing bulkhead, plus:
Moving into the Expert Pro (from $42,990) brings autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, a 7.0-inch touch-screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, reverse camera, rear parking sensors and automatic headlights and wipers.
