Peugeot slashes 4007

Peugeot's version of Outlander hits Japanese price levels

Peugeot has further slashed the price of its Outlander-based 4007 softroader. The turbodiesel twin-clutch equipped ST version of the compact SUV now starts at $37,990 driveaway. By way of comparison Mitsubishi's four-cylinder CVT petrol all-wheel drive Outlander range is priced from around $35,000 before statutory and dealer charges.

Peugeot says the strong Australian dollar has "helped Peugeot Automobiles Australia significantly reposition" the 4007.

“This is a significant reduction which has been achieved through both the increased value of the Australian dollar and some tough negotiations with the factory,” Peugeot Automobiles Australia Marketing Manager, Richard Grant, said.

“We believe it represents unparalleled value, especially given the 4007’s generous specification level.... The entry level ST includes on-demand 4WD, six airbags, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth, climate control, cruise control, acoustic parking sensors, ESP and one of the smartest tailgates in the business.

Peugeot has also repriced the SV version of the 4007.

“The SV adds automatic transmission, a third row of occasional seats, leather upholstery, an electrically-operated driver’s seat, front seat heaters and Xenon headlights, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels. And it still comes in at comfortably less than $50,000 drive away," Grant spruiked.

The entry-level version of 4007 initially entered the local marketplace in late 2009 priced at $47,990 plus on road costs, however, some models were priced as high as $54,190.

According to official VFACTs registration stats, so far this year (August YTD) Peugeot has sold 267 units. In the full 2010 calendar year it sold under 400 examples.
