Pininfarina reveals new VinFast sedan and SUV
Design house shows off two new concepts it created for Vietnamese start-upPininfarina has revealed two new design renderings for a sedan and SUV it has designed for fledgling Vietnamese car-maker, VinFast.
Created initially for Vietnam's domestic market, but intended for global consumption, both cars were said to have been chosen by public vote from 20 other proposals, after 62,000 votes were cast for designs penned by the famous Italian stylist.
VinFast says it now plans to introduce its first car in September 2019 and, come 2025, it hopes to produce 500,000 units annually.
With work already commenced back in September 2017 on a 335-hectare plant in northern Vietnam, VinFast claims all its forthcoming vehicles will employ "world-class production equipment and processes".
Pininfarina, meanwhile, back in March at the Geneva motor show announced that it intends to become the world's first pure-electric luxury car maker.
To prove it, the stylist has teased its first car – a wild battery-powered PFO hypercar that's capable of more than 400km/h.
Set to be introduced in 2020, Pininfarina has announced it is teaming up with Croatian hypercar maker Rimac to harness its expertise in high-power pure-electric powertrains.
Said to be capable of a sub-two-second 0-100km/h sprint, the PFO will also deliver a 483km driving range.
