Porsche 911 cops hefty price hikes

MY23 update and rising costs drive up iconic Porsche sport car’s price by as much as $26K

It was only a matter of time before the Porsche 911 received a price increase in conjunction with a 2023 model year update and rising production and shipping costs, following the same road as the rest of the Australian Porsche range.

But the price hikes wrought on the German marque’s iconic sports car are higher than we’d expected, ranging from $17,800 to $26,300 in a move that now sees the MY23 Porsche 911 open at more than a quarter of a million dollars.

The 911 Carrera now starts at $259,100 plus on-road costs (+$17,900), while across the comprehensive 26-model range the biggest price increase has been applied to the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, which is set at $452,000 plus ORCs (+$26,300).

Porsche Australia is yet to detail the specification changes for the MY23 911 line-up – the first examples of which are due here in the coming months – but has confirmed that adjusted equipment levels are a factor behind the price rises.

Rising production and shipping costs also figure in the higher pricing, while customers could face long waiting times for delivery.

The company said recently that delivery times varied across the entire Porsche range according to model, grade and specification, but conceded that two-door sports cars were attracting a longer wait than other vehicle lines.

carsales understands that while the first MY23 911s are due soon, new orders won’t be fulfilled until next year.

As our pricing table below shows, the widespread increases found across the MY23 911 line-up has two exceptions in the top-shelf 911 Sport Classic (from $598,300, -$800) and the heritage-rich 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design (from $426,100, -$800).

This is an adjustment based on the recently lowered luxury car tax threshold, but both are limited-edition models and the 911 Sport Classic is already sold out globally.

It’s not known if there are any examples still available of the small batch of Edition 50Y Porsche Design cars allocated for Australia.
