Porsche has released a new limited-run Porsche 911 Targa GTS that has been created to celebrate the German brand's high-end accessories arm's 50th birthday.
Named the 2022 Porsche 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design, just 750 of the commemorative cars will be produced and a small number will be made available Down Under, priced from $426,900 plus on-road costs.
That's a $60,000 premium over the 2022 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS.
For that you get a special-edition sports car inspired by the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 wristwatch that was introduced back in 1972.
That explains the 911 Edition 50Y's black paint and satin grey centre-lock rims.
As standard, the special 911 GTS comes with Porsche's SportDesign body kit that incorporates a redesigned front and rear bumper.
Black brake callipers and grey 'Porsche Design' door decals also make an appearance.
Dark grey roll hoops and Porsche Design 50th anniversary badging on the rear boot lid complete the external changes.
Within the cabin there's half-leather seats that combine black hide with the car-maker's retro Sport-Tex chequered seat fabric.
Other changes include a Porsche Design bespoke clock.
Under the boot lid the standard 911 GTS' twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six-cylinder carries over unchanged.
Coming with a healthy 353kW/570Nm, that's enough to launch the drop-top from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds when combined with the eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.
Top speed for the convertible is a blustery 307km/h.
Appropriately, Porsche Design has also created a limited-edition 50th anniversary watch to go with the car that looks almost identical to the 1972 timepiece, which was the brand's first-ever watch.
As well as the 750 watches it will give away with the car, Porsche Design will also make a batch of 500 to be sold separately.
