Porsche Boxster 25 Years released

Limited-edition Porsche 718 Boxster celebrates roadster’s quarter century

Porsche has unveiled a special anniversary edition of the Porsche Boxster in celebration of the roadster turning 25 years old.

Priced from $183,900 plus on-road costs and available to order now ahead of local deliveries beginning in April 2021, the Porsche Boxster 25 Years is based on the 294kW Boxster GTS 4.0 and only 1250 units will be available worldwide.

The $9100 premium over the Porsche 718 Boxster GTS brings a host of special features inside and out, including a ‘reinterpreted’ Neodyme exterior colour that Porsche describes as a copper-like shimmering brown, used on the front apron, side air intakes, lettering and two-tone 20-inch alloy wheels.

A choice of three exterior paint options for the 2021 Porsche Boxster 25 Years includes GT Silver Metallic, Deep Black Metallic or Carrara White Metallic.

The special-edition model will also come with a fuel filler cap from Porsche’s Exclusive Design range, finished with an aluminium look and Porsche scripting.

At the rear, the sports exhaust system is finished with the same bright aluminium tailpipes, while the windscreen surround is black.

Other features include a red fabric roof (embossed with Boxster 25 lettering) and a Bordeaux leather interior – both of which can be optioned in black.

Elsewhere in the cabin, an aluminium interior package brings 14-way electrically adjustable sports seats, door sill trims with ‘Boxster 25’ lettering and a heated GT multifunction sports leather steering wheel.

Under the bonnet, the 718 roadster is powered by Porsche’s rev-happy 4.0-litre flat-six, good for 294kW of power and optional with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK automatic transmission.

With the latter, Porsche says the special-edition Boxster peaks at a top speed of 293km/h, hitting 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.0 seconds.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and a mechanical limited-slip differential are fitted standard.

Australian-delivered models also include automatic-dimming mirrors (with rain sensor), heated seats, lane change assist, cruise control, ParkAssist, a reversing camera, interior surveillance, Porsche Entry & Drive, dual-zone climate control, Light Design Package, Apple CarPlay and digital radio.

The German car-maker says that since the launch of the Boxster in 1996, it’s produced more than 357,000 units.
