Porsche Cars Australia has released updated 2018 Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman models, with both entry-level mid-engined sports cars bringing more standard equipment for no extra charge.
Available to order now ahead of first deliveries from November, the upgraded Porsche Cayman and Boxster range sees components previously fitted only on higher-spec models filter down the line to base variants in some cases.
A new sports exhaust system is now standard in entry-level and S models. The tailpipe design remains unchanged, but exhaust flaps can now be manually activated for full aural effect, on demand. Left to its own devices, this happens around 3500rpm.
The 19-inch Boxster S wheel will become standard fair for base models, while 20-inch Carrera S wheels are now found on S models, representing a one-inch upsize across the board.
In-cabin updates are limited to a reversing camera, which is now standard for base, S and GTS models (Cayman GTS pictured).
Despite the upgrades, there are no changes to pricing for either the Porsche 718 Boxster or Cayman model range (see below).
News of the 2018 Boxster/Cayman line-up comes as Porsche readies its all-new, eighth-generation 992-series 911 for its world debut at the Los Angeles motor show in late November.
Meantime, Porsche’s Australian sales remain down about 18 per cent on 2017 figures so far this year.
