Porsche Cars Australia has recalled 1302 examples of its Macan mid-size SUV to inspect potentially faulty low-pressure fuel lines that could lead to under-bonnet fires.
The "precautionary recall", which affects 788 Macan S and 514 Macan Turbo vehicles already in the hands of local customers, is part of a global action including 58,881 examples of the same petrol-powered models.
"The reason for this move is a possible leak in the low-pressure fuel line inside the engine compartment," said Porsche.
"The line will be replaced in the workshop. This is a purely precautionary measure.
"The problem was identified after a precise examination of complaints and then immediately rectified in ongoing production."
Porsche says owners of affected vehicles will be contacted directly by their dealer and workshop appointments will be arranged as quickly as possible. Rectification work is expected to take about an hour.
The Macan has been a smash-hit Down Under since the all-new mid-size SUV was launched in Australia in early 2014, with more than 1600 sold so far this year.
In March this year, PCA recalled a small number of Cayenne and Panamera hybrids to replace potentially leaky fuel-injection rails that also posed a fire risk.
