Porsche previews 520kW 911 GT2

Wildest 911 ever shown off at Forza launch weeks before official reveal

Porsche has stunned gamers attending the launch of Forza Motorsport 7 by unveiling the new 911 GT2 RS weeks ahead of its official launch at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 29.

Said to appear in the latest instalment of the video game, the new GT2 is set to be the wildest road-going version of the 911 of all time.

Thought to come with in excess of 520kW of power from its twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat-six cylinder, the monstrous power output will be combined with rear-wheel drive.
Featuring a stripped-out interior and the use of plenty of carbon-fibre in its construction the GT2 could be as much as 100kg lighter than the standard 911 Turbo S.

Factor in a sophisticated variable locking rear differential and torque vectoring, plus wide rear tyres and launch control and the 911 GT2 should hit 100m/h in around 2.5 seconds and easily eclipse 330km/h.

This time round, it's likely the GT2 RS will only be available with the Porsche's seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.

Featuring a bespoke aero package to help it keep stable at extremely high speeds, the car revealed comes equipped with GT3 RS-derived vented front wings, a larger front splitter and a huge adjustable rear wing.

More will be revealed by Porsche as we close into the official late June reveal.
