Porsche has released a video over the weekend that proves it is readying yet another special 911-based concept to help celebrate its 70th anniversary.
The short teaser clip of Porsche's 'Project Gold' clearly shows the anniversary concept will be based on the 993-series 911 Turbo that was made from 1995 until 1997.
The German sports (and SUV) maker hasn't revealed what it's planning for its special recreation, but it's rumoured Porsche will create a 'restomod' approach that's favoured by aftermarket car tuners like Singer.
This will likely see the original air-cooled twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre flat-six produce even more power than the 330kW of the original 911 Turbo S.
Other changes could see the 993 get a cabin inspired by the current 991-series, including a state-of-the-art infotainment system.
As well as adding power, to improve performance Porsche will almost certainly restyle its original to have a wider, lower look while, potentially, introducing carbon-fibre body panels to shed weight.
Meanwhile, it's thought 'Project Gold' will feature plenty of gold-themed accents both inside and outside.
Although it's initially set to be a one-off, it's thought the Project Gold 911 will be the first example of a new product line aimed at wealthy 911 owners who, in the past, have gone elsewhere to update and modify their car.
Porsche already offers a factory restoration service and it's thought that, in the future, the same division will handle its restomod work in cooperation with the German car-maker's design department.
Porsche says it will reveal its complete Project Gold commemorative model on August 24 on YouTube.
