Porsche will unveil its “vision of the sports car of the future” at an anniversary bash on June 8 that celebrates 75 years to the day since the German car-maker officially began operations.
There are no further details on what form Porsche’s birthday present to itself will take, but it’s thought it could be a modern interpretation of Porsche’s first car, the 356 roadster.
Instead of a one-off, or limited-run production car, Porsche is expected to unveil a concept that points the way to the design of its next-generation Porsche 911.
Adding credibility to that theory, the image accompanying the 75th anniversary event announcement features plenty of 911s from the past and present.
Porsche might also be tempted to roll out a late-stage concept previewing the replacement for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman, which will include all-electric powertrain options.
Porsche has already ruled out plans to introduce a hypercar, so we’re not expecting to see a long-awaited follow-up to the Porsche 918 Spyder or Carrera GT.
If the concept isn’t all-electric, expect it to showcase the car-maker’s all-new hybrid technology that will be able to run on synthetic fuels.
There’s sure to be an all-star cast of cars at the event, with the 2024 Porsche 911 ST possibly among them – a new lightweight limited-edition model that resurrects a famous nameplate and could become the most expensive 992 to date.

June 8, 1948, was the day that the Porsche 356 Roadster received its general operating permit, allowing it to be road legal and offered for sale.
The 1948 Porsche 356 featured a full-aluminium body draped over a lightweight steel lattice tubular frame.
Mounted in the rear was a Volkswagen-sourced 1131cc flat-four that was tuned to produce a heady 26kW.
