Price cuts for 2024 MG4 and MG ZS

Popular EVs come back down in price after a tumultuous run of adjustments

MG Motor Australia has sharpened its EV pricing pencil following its shift away from a national drive-away pricing model, trimming up to $4000 off its MG4 and ZS EV portfolios.

The biggest discount applies to the 2024 MG4 XPower which has been reduced from $59,990 plus on-road costs to just $55,990 as of August 1, reaffirming its position as the undisputed kilowatt-per-dollar king.

All of the other variants have had between $2000 and $3000 shaved off their list prices, meaning the range now opens from $37,990 plus on-road costs for the base MG4 Excite 51 (-$2000), rising to $41,990 for the Excite 64 (-$3000), $44,990 for the Essence 64 (-$2000) and $50,990 for the Essence 77 (-$2000).

The older ZS EV meantime has had $1000 scraped off the mid-range Essence (now from $41,990) and flagship Long Range (now from $46,990), leaving the base Excite to hold firm at $39,990 plus on-roads as it prepares for retirement.

That’s not quite the end of the story however – the Excite’s list price might be staying where it is, but for the month of August it’s available from just $34,990 drive-away, temporarily crowning it Australia’s cheapest EV ahead of its replacement later in the year.

None of these price adjustments come with any alterations to the models’ respective equipment lists or mechanicals, however it could be said the MG4’s reduced prices go someway to offsetting the abandonment of the national drive-away prices.
