Up to $2500 has been shaved off the price of the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, making the seven-seat SUV available for the same money as the five-seat version.
The move comes as the current Tiguan approaches the end of its lifecycle, before the third-generation mid-size SUV arrives in Australia in about 12 months and the Allspace is phased out and replaced by the all-new Volkswagen Tayron by mid-2025.
Volkswagen Australia marketing communications manager Michelle Rowney said the current Tiguan Allspace will outlive its slightly smaller sibling, hence the newly aligned pricing.
“Now, while there’s stock of both, it’s a simply a case of whether you personally prefer seven seats or a huge storage area or a slightly smaller and more responsive vehicle,” she said.
“Price is not a factor.”
The price reductions mean the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace now starts from $43,990 plus on-road costs in base 110TSI Life form, and tops out at $60,590 plus ORCs for the top-spec 162TSI R-Line before options.
No changes have been made to standard specifications, which continue to comprise either a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine at base level, or two versions of a bigger 2.0-litre turbo four, outputting 132kW/320Nm and 162kW/350Nm depending on the variant.
All versions of the Allspace come standard with all-wheel drive and dual-clutch automatic transmissions – six-speed for the base 110TSI and seven for all other grades.
